Why we started... It has always been my dream to live in a mountain village and be able to ski to my door. In 1990, this dream became a reality when we moved to Kandersteg, a cozy village in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. We lived in a small flat in a farmhouse chalet and did ski to our door not one, but eighty sunfilled days in a row. It was on one such day that it came to me- that when I returned to my home in Nova Scotia, Canada, I would begin an adventure tour company that would bring people back to this haven every year for hiking.
This year will mark the 14th season that I will return to this little village with a handful of hearty souls who also believe that the best things in life are simple: a great hike with amazing scenery, an evening meal shared with your new friends and a wonderful sleep under those cozy duvets.
These beginnings expanded to include a return of our European friends to Canada for a taste of coastal hiking and an introduction to the warm hospitality of home.
Keep us on your "favorites" list. You might just get the urge to join us! -Kathy Didkowsky
