Taylor Head Provincial Park Taylor Head, Nova Scotia. Distance: 16 km. Choice of varied trails and terrains. Jutting out into the Atlantic, like a great crooked finger, Taylors Head is situated on 16 kms of rugged unspoiled shoreline with a white sand beach and exposed granite. Many of its trees are stunted and deformed as the severe exposure and salt spray and winds off the Atlantic have shaped their growth. Old fields are now home to perennials, which early settlers would have struggled to nurture in this windswept environment. Access to the park is in Spry Bay, 100 kms from Halifax along highway #7. It is an excellent hike for bird sightings and if you’re lucky, you may spot a seal.
